Inbox Pause lets you pause new emails from ... - Business Insider

inbox pauseAye Moah of Baydin Inc has done busy people everywhere a giant favor.

She's created a Gmail/Chrome extension called INBOX PAUSE. This glorious tool was discovered by The Next Web's Zee Kane.

It does exactly what you think it does. It prevents any more emails from popping up in your inbox the moment you press the "pause" button. Emails are stored in a hidden place until you're ready to receive them.

What's more, INBOX PAUSE can send auto-replies to email senders saying their messages were not received -- kind of like a voicemail box that's run out of room.

When your inbox is paused, a Gmail-style yellow banner appears at the top of your inbox that reads, "Your inbox is currently paused. Please click the blue UNPAUSE button to see what's waiting for you."

INBOX PAUSE is currently available for Chrome. "Take a break from email," the creator says. "Be Free."

Handy Tips For Your Home Improvement Project | lmaureen.com

When remodeling your kitchen or bath it may be wise not to do it yourself. These projects are extensive, time consuming, and much more involved than other home improvement projects. Often times it will actually save you money to hire a handy man or other licensed professional rather than take on these potentially monumental endeavors yourself.

Give your kitchen cabinets a brand new look with paint. This is a very inexpensive way of updating your kitchen cabinets. Remove the doors and thoroughly clean all surfaces with denatured alcohol to get rid of dirt and grease. Apply a coat of primer: this should take about an hour to dry. Use a latex or oil paint, and choose a gloss finish, as this stands up well to scrubbing. If the paint you are using is roughly the same shade as the original, you may be able to get away with one coat of paint over the primer. Your cabinets will look brand new again!

Having a plan in place before you start your home improvement projects is very important. Even if you won?t be getting to those other rooms or projects for a long time, have a vision for what you want your overall home to look like. This will keep the flow of your home consistent when you are finished.

If you are thinking of buying a new tub, sit in the tub before purchasing it. You may feel embarrassed, but sometimes bathtubs may look much bigger than they actually are. Some tubs are can not be returned or have a very high restocking fee, so make sure you are pleased with the tub before buying.

Since it seems your kitchen is the gathering place for family and friends, then this is the number one renovation most homeowners should consider first, and one that adds the most value to your home. Be sure to go with plenty of cabinet and counter space. Also, no matter the finish on your appliances, just make sure they all coordinate with one another.

An inexpensive way to improve the appearance of your home?s interior is by replacing your curtains. Old and worn-out curtains will make your home look dated and worn-out too. New curtains will brighten up a room and can be had from discount stores at a fairly minimal cost to you.

One of the easiest ways to be more green and resourceful in your home, is to look for appliances and items that are energy star certified or energy efficient. This way you will be doing your part to conserve energy, lower your overall costs, and make the planet more efficient over time.

If you are building your home or having it built, remember that you can customize in many little ways. One thing you might want to think about is putting your wall outlets higher than the standard foot from the floor. If you have them higher, it will be easier to plug things in without having to crawl around behind your furniture!

Improving your home yourself in anyway can be a fun, rewarding experience, but this can also be a disaster. Before starting any projects, make sure you research what you?re doing first. Getting halfway through any home improvement project only to find you?re doing something wrong is a nightmare waiting to happen.

Installing new shelves in a garage or other area can give one much more space to store whatever they choose while also clearing space off the ground. This will open up the walking areas of the room and also make things look more organized. Shelves can be used for home improvement needs.

Keep your closet free of clutter by organizing your shoes. Keep boots and shoes that you don?t wear often in a large plastic box, or in the original boxes you got when you purchased them. Only leave out the shoes that you wear at least twice a week. Doing this will allow your closet space to be organized, and your shoes to be neatly displayed.

Carpet the bottoms of the drawers you keep your hand tools in. This will not only make the shop room a quieter place but it will help protect your valuable tools. Keep those tools rust free by spraying the carpet lightly with machine oil before you place the tools inside the drawer.

As you may now be starting to understand, the home-improvement process does not need to be as difficult or time consuming as you thought it might be. The important thing to remember is to go one step at a time. By following the tips and advice from this article you will help to ensure your home-improvement project meets with great success.

Matthew McConaughey & Camila Alves' Big Apple Family Stroll

Posted Friday August 31, 2012 7:44 PM GMT

While Camila Alves' pregnant belly keeps growing, her hubby Matthew McConaughey is withering away as the pair grabbed a bite to eat in New York City on Friday (August 31).

Taking their impeccably dressed children by the hand, the Brazilian-American model lead the way in a stunning floor length black maxi while a few steps back her "Magic Mike" husband looked casual in jeans and a wrinkly button-up.

With baby number three on the way, the 30-year-old recently gave expecting mothers some fashion advice telling Us Weekly, "Do not be afraid to be sexy while you're pregnant. I'm learning that on my third pregnancy. I'm like, "Oh wow, you don't have to wear just flowing things."'

As for Matthew's rapidly declining weight, the 42-year-old actor is preparing for his role in "The Dallas Buyer's Club" where he plays a frail HIV patient determined to defy all odds after being told to "go home and die."

Enjoy the pictures of Matthew McConaughey and Camila Alves out for a stroll in NYC (August 31).

Product Review KP02A body review, & comparison with HT's ...

KP02A body review, and side-by-side comparison with HT's (Noland/Barney Ross/Whiplash) body variant.

Some have requested a direct comparison between the 2.

More of the former by more ways than one.

Review
1. As suspected by myself and few others, KPA02 is "base on" HT Barney Ross/Whiplash body. A more accurate description is: KP used the base HT body and:
a) Adding sculpt to the exterior ot the torso, abs, arms and legs so that it varies from HT's.
b) The pelvis shape (exterior/function) remains mostly unchanged except for the slight shift of the screw holes.
c) The slight changes to shoulder rotation pin that (inadvertently) makes the Arms modular (you can pop it out of the socket).
d) The internals are almost 100% "recast" based on HT's body. Hence, good replacement/swappable parts with HT's bodies.
e) The whole body from the hips/pelvic region to the top of tip of the neck is the same length as the HT's, the upper legs are longer by approx 0.5 cm, while lower legs would be the same/similar to the extended lower legs (together with extended pegs option too) of HT variants, with standard TT lower legs it's approx 1.7cm longer. Proportionally, KP's legs seems too long.

The Good/Improvements:
1. Materials used are of good (I'd put it: preferred) quality. It gives some flexing while materials used by HT are more rigid which tends to break.
2. Thick PVC material used for the upper torso (which brings a weakness). HT's very thin by comparison.

The Bad/Weakness:
1. The far too thick PVC of the upper torso around the rib area, making it like fat build-up in odd places.
2. The knees bent has far too sharp angles jutting out.
3. The base of the neck is rather loose, so adjustment through a screw at the back would alleviate this, but you can't (which will be discuss in "the ugly").
4. Because of the pin design of the shoulders, it would be more prone to be loose, swinging back and forth over- a-time-course/frequent posing.

The Ugly:
1) The claims as a complete in-house KP 3D CAD design.
2) Drill out (Stripping) the "philips" screw head of the 3 screws holding the internal torso together, so no typical screw driver can "expose" further internals. Well, it took me all of 5 minutes dremel, to get the screw to be fully functioning again, I do appreciate a good mental challenge/obstacle. The QUESTION: Why create such an inconvenience? (I'll leave it at that)

Personal opinions:
KP did recreate a good alternative body (or duplicate body) with some weaknesses and some improvements. Being a retail product this is bound to be dissected to its basic components and be exposed for what it is. I personally disagree with the claims made. I would call a square, a square. Be it HT or any other companies, they would expect their products to be dissected with appropriate merits/credits to novelty of design.

Note on pics, I've used a compact wide angle camera so there will be some perspective distortion.... I could always break out my DSLR with macro-lens
Pictures: Left (KP02A): Right (Noland's body)

Pelvis:

Abdomen:

Upper Torso:

Odd sharp knees:

Arms/shoulder joint:

Proof on concept. The interchangeable parts of KP's and HT's bodies. Note, because of slight difference in sizes you can't by default use Noland's hips and legs on KP02A's pelvis, a minor mod will be needed to do so (as seen, you'll have no problems doing the opposite). Right: Hybrid as indicated by the colour. KP's inner neck peg and Arms/Shoulders on Noland's inner & outer upper torso, connected to KP's abdomen which is in turn to Noland's Pelvic and again to KP's hips and legs:

Odin's body: KP02A, (arms' obviously different) this is length/proportion comparison:

Needless to say I disagree with the following comments (with proof), "and why the bias?" is all that I'll add.:

Quote:

Similar, yes, copy, hell no!

Give the guy a break, he's just starting out and needs all the support he can get. We all have to start somewhere!

CHEERS!

Quote:

People seem to have serious issues of perception that I don't understand. If people can't tell the difference between the Iron Man Mark III and Mark IV designs even when side by side. I am not surprised that they can tell the difference between two similarly sized 1/6 scale human bodies.

The Kaustic body is very different from any of the HT bodies in many ways. It's clearly a made-from-scratch body that uses some similar articulation.

Quote:

I don't understand what you are getting at? Wouldn't you expect that 2 simalarily sized body builders to have similar proportions? Yes the side by side pics look similar. Similar in that that they are both muscular and have normal body parts. The design of the body though is vastly different. I don't know how much it cost to design a body but I guess it would be Thousands if not Tens of Thousands. I know if I had a company and spent that kind of money I would be offended if someone came along and said "but it's a recast of Hot Toys".

p.s. Take a product for what it is... alot of people do appreciate the availability and variation that KP bodies provide.

Disney's Skinny Minnie Mouse & Daisy Duck on a Diet? | A Weigh Out

Minnie-As We Know Her

What happened to Minnie Mouse??Has she been on a crash diet or done a liquid fast? Has she always secretly dreamed of a career as a runway model??Could she?be anorexic?

Nope,?Disney has given?her a makeover for a?new holiday campaign designed for Barneys New York. (Photo on right from Barneys? Campaign. You can see images of the skinnier Daisy Duck, even Goofy, in?the Women?s Wear Daily?article announcing the new campaign.)

So, what message does this send to everyone, kids especially, who love the happy, fresh faced, approachable and lovable Minnie Mouse?compared to the barely there, high fashion, not-sure-when-I-last-ate version with ?attitude???

I know. Some people reading this might be saying, how many kids will actually see the 3-D film Disney made for?Barneys New York?s Holiday Campaign that shows Minnie heading off to Paris to meet up with her high fashion model friends? ?Who knows? ?But I?m guessing Barneys will be promoting it, as?this is a sales campaign.?In my opinion, even if it?s seen by one impressionable little girl who loves Minnie, or one teenager who used to worship Disney characters and today finds herself?vulnerable to?an eating disorder, or one grown?up with fond memories of Minnie and now feels?her own body is?too fat?I think?this is just plain?unnecessary, misguided?and, frankly,?dumb?from a?marketing standpoint! Counter to popular belief, not all publicity is good publicity.

Disney's Now Defunct Lead BottomRemember Disney?s Habit Heroes Exhibit which launched early in 2012? ?It was promptly shut down due to?a loud outcry over its?blatant ?weight-ism? and potentially damaging messages connecting self-esteem and size? So, this is the second time in less than a year?that Disney has launched an initiative that shows?a great insensitivty (even?ignorance) about people of?all shapes, sizes, weights.

This leaves me scratching my head.?So, what?s up with Disney?s decision makers and?their judgment? ?Have?they looked out their windows and?seen?the people who stand in line at Disney?s theme parks. Do they know?anything about those of us who buy Disney products? We come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes!? We don?t want to?look at our beloved childhood characters and?suddenly wonder, ?Hmm, she?s lost so much weight. Is?she telling me?I should get rail-thin skinny, too.?

Imagine what could be accomplished if Disney were to make a corporate-wide decision to promote healthy body image in all of its endeavors? Wow!? Wouldn?t that be amazing?

In the meantime, get ready Disney.?We in the eating disorders treatment, advocacy, and health at every size communities are once again preparing an all-out campaign to let?you know of our great concern and disappointment in?your judgment!

Bernanke: With unemployment high, Fed can do more

(AP) ? Chairman Ben Bernanke sent a clear message Friday that the Federal Reserve will do more to help the still-struggling U.S. economy.

His remarks left two questions: What exactly will the Fed do? And when?

Bernanke described the U.S. economy's health as "far from satisfactory" and noted that the unemployment rate, now 8.3 percent, hasn't declined since January.

He stopped short of committing the Fed to any specific move. But in his speech to an annual Fed conference in Jackson Hole, Wyo., Bernanke said that even with interest rates already at super-lows, the Fed can do more.

He acknowledged critics' arguments that further Fed action could fan inflation and inject other risks. Yet after raising such arguments, Bernanke proceeded to knock them down.

Some economists predict the Fed will unveil some bold new step as soon as its Sept. 12-13 meeting, possibly a third round of bond purchases meant to lower long-term interest rates and encourage more borrowing and spending. That policy is called "quantitative easing," or QE.

In two rounds of QE, the Fed bought more than $2 trillion of Treasury bonds and mortgage-backed securities. Many investors have been hoping for a third round ? a QE3.

"Bernanke has taken a further step along the path to more policy stimulus, most likely a third round of asset purchases (QE3) to be announced at the mid-September FOMC meeting," said Paul Dales, senior U.S. economist at Capital Economics.

Others expect something less dramatic: a plan to keep short-term rates near zero into 2015 unless the economy improves, perhaps followed by bond purchases later.

In his speech, Bernanke assessed the economy's weaknesses, defended the extraordinary steps the Fed has taken to date and insisted it can do more.

Investors took time to digest Bernanke's speech but in the end seemed pleased. After his remarks were released at 10 a.m. Eastern time, the Dow Jones industrial average shed some of its earlier gains. Then it rose more than 100 points. It closed up about 90 points, or 0.7 percent.

Bernanke acknowledged that the Fed is operating in essentially uncharted territory.

Traditionally, central banks stimulate weak economies by pushing down short-term rates. In December 2008, the Fed slashed such rates to record lows. Yet even with short-term rates as low as they can go, the economy still needs help.

Central banks can take "nontraditional" measures when they've run out of conventional ammunition. And under Bernanke the Fed has tried many.

It's made its public communications more explicit. For example, it's sought to embolden investors and businesses by saying short-term rates will stay low as long as the economy is weak. The Fed originally said it expected to keep rates "exceptionally low" through mid-2013. It extended that target to late 2014.

And besides embarking on two rounds on QE, the Fed has sold short-term Treasurys and replaced them with long-term Treasurys. That shift is intended to push long-term rates down further.

Bernanke argued Friday that collectively, such measures have succeeded. He cited research showing that two rounds of QE had created 2 million jobs and accelerated U.S. economic growth.

Even if the Fed does act further, many analysts doubt it would make much difference. Interest rates, both short- and long-term, are near historic lows. Borrowing ? for those who have the credit ? has never been cheaper. Yet the economy remains in a rut.

Critics have also argued that besides escalating inflation later, the Fed's easy-money policies could push individuals and institutions into riskier investments. That, in turn, could destabilize the financial system.

Bernanke conceded that nontraditional policies carry risks. But he argued that these risks are "manageable." He noted that inflation remains around 2 percent despite "repeated warnings that excessive policy accommodation would ignite inflation." And he said "we have seen little evidence thus far of unsafe buildups of risk or leverage."

In his speech to the annual conference sponsored by the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, Bernanke seemed to embrace a dual mission: Rebut arguments against further Fed action ? and build a case for it.

He echoed what the Fed had said in a statement after its last policy meeting July 31-Aug. 1: that it will act further, as needed, to stimulate economic growth and job creation.

In the weeks since then, somewhat better economic news had led some analysts to suggest that the Fed might now feel less urgency to act. But on Friday, Bernanke didn't mention any recent economic improvements. And his reiteration of the Fed's readiness to provide more help suggested that his view of the economy remains dim.

He called the weak job market "a grave concern" that causes "enormous suffering," wastes talent and can inflict lasting damage on the economy.

Bernanke and other Fed officials are expected to closely review the August jobs report, which comes out Sept. 7, to see how urgently the economy needs help. The consensus forecast of economists is that employers added 135,000 jobs in August, according to a survey by FactSet.

"The Fed sounds about as close as they can get to taking action, short of sitting around the table in September and voting for it," said Chris Rupkey, chief financial economist at the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ.

"It appears that only a big jobs report number, (200,000 or more new jobs in July ) and a sharp decline in the unemployment rate next week could stop them from taking additional steps."
