Managerial ethics is determined by rules and principles which define the right behavior in business field. Often, it is difficult to describe what is right and what is not, because these two things depend of the society?s standards.
Ethic responsibilities of an organization refer to domains as employees, owners, customers, community. For ensuring the ethical character of business, managers have to undertake a set of actions. First, they need to fix clear objectives, policies and norms and also make clear which the behavioral code is. The manager should initiate a program of ethics training for all employees. Manager must use ethical standards in the performance appraisals of employees. Manager must assume responsibility for violations of ethics. The manager should encourage employees to promote ethical behavior.
The main factors that determine ethical behavior of organizations are government regulations, codes of ethics and internal regulations.
Government regulations prohibit certain activities or certain production processes. Organizations must know and comply with these regulations. Because of their mandatory, government regulation government regulation make the activities of the organization be not be legal.
Ethics codes are addressed to personnel serving as promotion or salary, and also to business partners. Fairness in business is one of the defining elements of success. Precisely because of this, companies try to develop their employees behave ethically. Worldwide, companies have developed such codes, because it creates the image of how organizations do business and treat their partners.
Since childhood we develop certain value. They are influenced by family (parents, siblings), education (teachers), the environment (friends, colleagues), that is the whole society. Each of us learn the difference between good and evil, between what is right and what is not correct. This develops our individual characteristics.
Another thing I want to talk about is the internal regulations. Members of an organization tend to respect the conduct prescribed by internal regulations of organization and functioning, internal regulations or custom rules for specific activities or job descriptions.
The last thing I want to remember is social pressure. This element has a big influence over the business ethics and social responsibility. In crisis situations, companies tend not to take into account social responsibility and ethical standards. The same happens when we deal with social pressure. In this case, the first to be affected are exactly the social responsibility.
