Sinkhole Insurance Pitfalls - Lehigh Valley Clancularius Introspectives

We've all read about how homeowners should take out sinkhole insurance. I'm not saying this will happen to those who seek it, but I've been doing a little background research. In states where it is required of insurance companies to provide this, doesn't necessarily make it a good thing.

One example was of a couple who was required to do an expensive GeoSurvey of their property before their insurance company would accept the coverage. In another a neighbor had sinkholes and they were denied insurance completely because of it. In still one other instance a couple spent the $2,500 only to discover they had a sinkhole problems. At that point (since the state required coverage) they were denied homeowners insurance all together because of it!

I'm not saying if you can get it without these problems that you shouldn't do so, but a word of caution, be careful or you might wind up opening a can of worms.
