New Android apps worth downloading: Sundance Film Festival 2013, ESPN X Games, Super Hexagon

If you?re headed to the Sundance Film Festival this year, the official app is full of information to help you get around the festival and learn about the competing films. We?ve also got EPSN?s companion app to the Winter X Games, which has all the info and highlights you need. Finally, the fast-paced arcade title Super Hexagon has made the jump from iOS and PC to Android.

What?s it about? If you?re attending Sundance this year (or are just interested in the festival), Sundance Film Festival 2013 is full of useful information.

What?s cool? The Sundance Film Festival 2013 app includes trailers for all the films featured at the festival, as well as a festival guide, and the full schedule of films. If you?re attending, the app will help you get around the festival, but you can also check out what films are up for which awards and share things through social networking.

Who?s it for? Sundance is mostly for attendees of the film festivals, but it?s also useful for film buffs as well.

What?s it like? You might also want to check out the official Oscars app for more film info.

What?s it about? The companion app to ESPN?s coverage of the Winter X Games provides stats, plus information on athletes and events.

What?s cool? ESPN X Games lets you see results from all the events whenever you want as they become available and will stream highlights. You can check in on news about the X Games and see the schedule, watch the brackets to see how your favorite contenders fare, and even catch streaming content and music.

Who?s it for? This one?s specifically for sports fans who are interested in the X Games.

What?s it like? For more sports, get ESPN?s ScoreCenter for Android or ScoreMobile.

What?s it about? A super-simple, super-hard game of avoiding walls, Super Hexagon is all about fast reaction times and precise movements.

What?s cool? The ?hexagon? of Super Hexagon refers to the game space. There?s a central hexagon, around which players can rotate an arrow by pressing either left or right on the touchscreen. With thumping music and a steady rhythm, hexagon-shaped walls cascade toward the center of the screen, and it?s your job to move the arrow to avoid them. Things get crazy in a hurry, though, as Super Hexagon distorts the screen and varies the music to throw you off. This one?s challenging as well as addicting.

Who?s it for? Super Hexagon is for those who enjoy pick up and play titles that are highly challenging. It?s for mild-tempered players of all ages.
