Giants backup safety Will Hill has been suspended four games by the NFL for violating the league's substance- abuse policy. The suspension was confirmed Saturday by a team official.

It is Hill's second suspension in the last two seasons. He was suspended four games last year for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing drugs for using the banned drug Adderall which contains a combination of amphetamine and dextroamphetamine.

Hill, a second-year safety who joined the Giants in 2012 as an undrafted free agent out of Florida, can participate in training camp and preseason games. His suspension will begin with the regular-season opener against Dallas and will end Sept. 30.

Hill was suspended four games last October for his PED violation.

In 12 games last season, Hill had 27 tackles, two passes defensed, one forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
