Facebook Page Profile Dimensions - Maximize Your Real Estate ...

There?s a lot more real estate in a Facebook page profile picture than you may think. It?s prime real estate since many people focus their attention immediately on the stream in the center of the page rather than right or left.

The maximum dimensions are 540 pixels tall and 180 pixels wide.

Tonight I redesigned the Facebook profile picture for the Marketing Technology Facebook page ? and worked to match the styling of our Twitter background. There are some finite adjustments you may wish to make as you design your picture.

First, the side of the profile picture is aligned to the right directly against a vertical line on the border of the sidebar. That means you may wish to leave some whitespace on that side of your image. The left side, however, opens to open space ? so you can maximize the design by adjusting your design to align on the left side. For the font, I tried to match Facebook using the Lucida Grande font.

My goal for the image wasn?t a specific call to action ? which I would probably recommend for the average business. My goal is simply to highlight all the different categories and initiatives the Marketing Technology blog has. Since I have name recognition and my face is all over the web, I also made certain to include my photo. It also personalizes the page a little.
