The book surveys the 150-year history of the movement and provides lots of good-looking graphs and tables of the current situation. I use this book in my 2000-level course on race, gender and politics and find it very readable for my mostly 1st- and 2nd-year students. The students like the book as well. If you want a well-organized, readable, and current survey of the movement and the current status of women in America, I wholly recommend this book. I know it is increasingly difficult to come across textbooks without a leftist slant, but that doesnt make it any less disappointing when I have to use one.
