Wall Street looks ahead to Fed announcement

U.S. stocks are set for a flat open Wednesday, as investors look ahead to the outcome of the Federal Reserve?s two-day policy meeting.

Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke will discuss the results of the meeting at midday Wednesday. Fed watchers have speculated that the Fed will announce a plan ?to sell short-term Treasurys and buy longer-term issues in order to push down interest rates on long-term government debt,? the Associated Press reports.
